Glutamine - chemical composition and function in the body

Glutamine (short for glutamic acid ) is a non-essential amino acid that is found in human blood plasma at a concentration of approximately 20 percent . Through diet, glutamine can be consumed either by adding dairy products such as curd cheese or yogurt, or by eating raw or smoked fish . Basically, glutamine is responsible for a large number of metabolic processes in the human organism. On the one hand, it serves for the regeneration of damaged muscle tissue and it favors an accelerated replenishment of the glycogen stores emptied by intensive stress. Glycogen is a carbohydrate that serves the muscles and organism as a quickly available source of energy - glutamine ensures that it is stored quickly. In addition, glutamine also takes on important functions in strengthening the body's immune system. Defense cells are immediately formed from glutamine after heavy exertion, which can weaken the open window syndrome that prevails immediately after intense exertion. In addition, glutamine provides an anti-catabolic metabolism by preventing the breakdown of the body's own muscle cells for rapid energy supply by supplying this nutrient. Glutamine is therefore ideal as a dietary supplement and can be used either in liquid , powder or capsule form . As a dietary supplement for athletic goals, glutamine can be used before and after training. If, on the other hand, the immune system and general health are to be improved using glutamine as a supplement, it is also advisable to take it all day , on an empty stomach before meals. In principle, the liquid form is preferable to the powder form, since it can be used better and more effectively by the human organism.

Use glutamine for weight loss, muscle building and general health

Glutamine as a dietary supplement is therefore particularly suitable for athletes, since it can be used for immediate energy generation and protects the body from a catabolic metabolism in which valuable muscle protein is used to provide energy. Glutamine is therefore a tried-and-tested remedy, above all for muscle maintenance, which can be excellently stirred and consumed in powder or liquid form in drinks. Glutamine is also suitable as a healing agent for bowel diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome . Here, glutamine as a dietary supplement can help to improve the absorption of nutrients by the intestinal mucosa. The supplement glutamine is also useful for a strong immune system , since immune cells usually get their energy from glutamic acid. Glutamine also supports the formation of glutathione , which is an antioxidant . This protects the cells from premature skin aging and harmful substances and therefore offers a variety of positive properties. In this context, glutamine also has a supporting effect by enabling restful sleep - for example after intensive workouts or stressful everyday situations and thereby ensuring a generally better balance. The reason for this is the increased formation of glutathione , which protects the cells from stress and makes them more resistant. If there is a potential glutamine deficiency in the course of competitive sports or chronic intestinal diseases such as Crohn's disease , the immediate susceptibility to infection increases and there is a disturbance in normal bowel function. The supplement glutamine can therefore be taken permanently and is not subject to any restrictions.
